S3 Fellowship for International Research Stay

Fellowship awarded by the Fondo Nacional de Ciencia,Tecnología e Innovación (FONACIT) for financing an Internship (an International Research Stay) carried out at the University of the Basque Country in Spain for three months (from 04 Mar 2004 to 04 Jun 2004)
The objectives of the Internship were:
- Conduct a technology survey and scientific review on methods to deposit catalysts on structured surfaces.
- Prepare structured catalysts based on developing a liquid phase method for depositing mesoporous silica and Co-Ni catalyst onto the surface of several structured supports (metal, structured packings, monoliths, SiC, alumina ceramic foams, etc.).
- Prepare and characterize suspensions based on mesoporous silica and supported Co–Ni catalysts for wash/dip-coating tests.
- Undertake a catalytic performance assessment of structured catalysts on the oxidation of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
- Develop analytical methods by GC for the gases analysis on stream of reactants, products and reaction mixtures derived from VOC's processes. Experimental data management.

It combines rigorous peer review with rapid publication of research articles and concise reports on significant, novel, and timely research results. Insight to the important new forms of energy input such as electro- and photocatalysis and the associate material science aspects of preparing such catalysts are especially encouraged.
The journal accepts original Research Papers, Reviews, Short Communications and other of general interest to the broader catalysis community. Catalysis Communications also publishes special issues on well-defined topics only by invitation. However, proposals from authors are welcomed anytime and enquiries regarding the submission of special issues should be directed to the Editors.
